92 percent of American homes burn some sort of fossil fuel either directly or indrectly to condition enviroments inside the home. Over 94% of American homes lose between 20 to 70 percent of its energy through inadequate insulation. To make up for this inefficiency we burn more fuel to feel cozy in our home. Logically, if we burn more fuel we need to import more fuel.
Oil dependence hurts our economy as US Dollars are siphoned out of our country. It is clear that much of this money eventually goes to support inauspicious funding such as wars, terrorism and hostile regimes.
Through insulating our homes alone will not solve these issues, insulation is a significant step towards ridding our dependency on foreign oil. When we insulate we not only do the "right thing" for our homes and the environment, we also do the right thing for our country.
